Depuis 2004, Masayoshi Takayama dirige le restaurant de sushis Masa, trois étoiles au guide Michelin, et le restaurant japonais voisin, le Bar Masa, à New York. Il dirige également Kappo Masa sur Madison Avenue en partenariat avec le galeriste d’art Larry Gagosian.

Masayoshi Takayama est né au Japon et a suivi un apprentissage culinaire dans le quartier de Ginza à Tokyo. En 1980, il ouvre son premier restaurant à Los Angeles, Saba-ya. Cela a été suivi par le lancement de Ginza Sushiko en 1987.
